When a preschool answers the phone...

The princess loves answering the phone nowadays. One time she answered a phone call and the man on the other line was looking for me, the man probably said "where's your mommy?"

Princess: huh? (she looked at me as if shocked by what she heard)
Mom: Why, who is it?
Princess: He said he wants my money, i don,t have any money naman eh!

Another afternoon, she answered the phone, again she looked surprised with what she heard.

Mom: why sweety, who is it?
Princess: Mom, she said she wants my jack stone, that's my toy eh.
(The person on the other line was actually asking for a FAX TONE)

Missing the e-world...

Been very busy lately. I hardly find time to browse the net, I only open my laptop to check and send emails. I miss blog hopping, I miss visiting the forums I enjoy. I miss staying online for a long time. Anyway, I'm on my third month now, I'm, just glad that while I'm busy, baby no. 2 is not giving me a hard time, no spotting or anything that is alarming, except of course for the usual nausea & vomiting that I experience till now. And oh, the princess is very much excited to be an "ate". She enjoys talking to the baby while holding my tummy.

Random Updates

Been busy with lots of things lately, aside from the fact that we lost internet connection for five days, a lot of things needed attention and so this blog has not been visited for quite a while.

The princess started going to school already, my baby is not really a baby anymore (sniff*sniff). Oh, but I'm so proud of her! The moment we entered the classroom, she started working on some puzzle. She did her activities one after the other. She was cooperating very well and following her teacher's instruction. The best part is, SHE DIDN'T CRY!!! I was so worried that she will cry but no, she really made me proud! But like any other mommies, we do have this "waking up" blues. It's easy to wake her up but the hard part is, making her stand up and go to the bathroom.

I'm sad. After the summer escapades, I gained weight! Now I'm having a hard time fitting into my clothes. I have to try at least 3 pairs before I can hide the bulges. I hate the way I look and I know I need to do something about it now, not tomorrow, not next week!!! And I won't buy new pairs of clothes coz if I do, it's as if I'm accepting that I'll keep this weight.

Sister no. 3 is planning to tie the knot, of course, "ate"(that's me) will be helping with the preparation and she asked me to be her Matron of Honor. I worry about something though, baby no. 2 could be on the way while were doing all the preps. Another thing, if I get preggy soon, there will be someone with a bulging tummy in her entourage. Arghh!

The princess is suffering from colds, I guess she got it from her classmate. She can barely sleep at night coz she's having difficulty in breathing. Poor little girl... I really hope she can get enough sleep tonight.

She wants a pet

Princess: Dad, can you buy me a pet? I wanna have a pet.
Daddy: What pet do you want?
Princess: An elephant!!!
Daddy: Huh? You can't have that for a pet, that's too big.
Princess: Oh well, how about a giraffe?

:D

My Most Memorable Moment

Daiz tagged me!

1. Answer the question below:

If you are to leave an important memory, what would that be?

You can answer the question either by posting a picture, a video, writing a poem or whatever you think would best describe the memory that you want to share.

I thought, that was hard. My wedding day and the arrival of my princess come to mind. Both are a wonderful events in my life. However another moment stands out in my mind. It was my dream to be really close to my father, in fact, he was the reason why I didn't pursue my career to be a nurse. He didn't want me to work somewhere else so he offered me to work for them, to help them in managing the family business. I agreed because I wanted him to see my efforts of trying to be close to him. Don't get me wrong, he was a good man, a good provider and I know how much he loves us, maybe he's just not the "sweet father" type and he was too busy with the business then that he doesn't realized it was eating much of his time.

Christmas of 2001, we were at Fontana in Angeles City, that was one of the few times that he became a playful and very funny dad, one thing that we always look forward to. We had a wonderful time there because those were the very few times that we could call a quality time with our dad. So there, my most memorable moment with him was the last Christmas he spent with us...

A Mother's Day Gift

Being a Stay-at-Home-Mom, I don't have anything to say about my professional career. I have no regrets when I decided to become a SAHM, being a hands on mom is what I've always dreamed of. I may not be successful in my professional career but my daughter is my pride, my trophy. Last Sunday, my princess did something during their Sunday School in church. After the service, she immediately hand me the most wonderful Mother's Day gift .

New Found Friends... (WARNING: Long post, this is especially made for my classmates in the short course i attended)

Most of the time, friends who are very close to my heart tend to leave. Because of our profession, that's the reality that I have to accept. Can't blame them for leaving, opportunity knocks best for them outside Philippines. When my best friend left for London, we were crying buckets of tears, of course after a while, we've learned to deal with the situation that she has to follow her dreams. As for me, I have another story why I opted to stay here. After a few years, more and more of my friends were leaving. I got used to the idea but I will never get use to the pain it brings whenever someone has to leave.

Three years of being a Stay-At-Home-Mom, I missed a lot of things. I miss going out on a regular basis. Don't get me wrong, I don't have a single regret, I love my daughter so much and I am happy each and every single day I spend with her. But of course, I sometimes think I could use some break, some "ME" time to keep my sanity. And in doing so, It has to be something that I enjoy the most (well, aside from singin, hehe), what else could it be but cooking! Hubby was generous enough to enroll me to a short course in culinary and I glad I enrolled in the second batch for this year. Not only that I've learned so much but I also gained some new friends.

Our class was a complete package, different personalities but we surely have one thing in common, that is to enjoy whatever it is we were doing. During the first few sessions, I thought it'll just be the typical class and since it was just a short course, it never entered my mind that we will still keep in touch after the course has ended. It all started with chilling out on Saturdays after class, another session came the next week and so it goes on and on. We even had our bonding session one holiday, and guess what I've found out, they love to sing too!!! After those gimmicks outside class, we became much comfortable with each other and the kitchen was never dull again, we were all enjoying everything. Inside the kitchen, laughing was the common sound you can hear. Gladly we became close to the chefs, some of them even joined us on our bonding sessions. Modesty aside, most of them liked our batch, I'd like to qoute Chef A, "ok nga kayo eh, kasi masaya ang mabilis kayo kumilos, each week nag iimprove kayo, nakaktuwa" and from Chef G, "cool ng batch nyo, di pa kayo maaarte". From Chef E during our kitchen simulation, "Ang gagaling nyo ha, bakit ang gagaling nyo?":D Wohooo! Thanks to all our Chefs!

I don't know about them but during our graduation, I had mixed emotions, I was happy to finish the short course but I was a bit sad coz I knew I'll be missing the group, the noise inside the kitchen, the never ending laughs and funny moments.

Special mention to some people;

Bianca, you were the first person I smiled at, sat beside you in the lobby and that was the start. I hope we will continue to keep in touch, make this friendship grow into a deeper one. I can always be your older sister if you need someone to talk to. Thanks for all those nice chats during breaks. Can't wait to see that "W" moment of yours.;-)

Chona, my fellow mommy. Was is just a coincidence that we sat beside each other? I'll miss our wifey and mommy talks. Thank you for your effort of coming with us no matter how far you're from.

Ayen, another fellow mommy. Thank you for always appreciating my efforts. I'll definitely miss your sweet voice especially when you come back to your home town. We should meet before you go.

Kath bunso and Ria, stay being cool! I missed you guys during the last get together, hope to see you soon.

Yogi, thanks for being nice, you're my inspiration in getting rid of these excess baggage in my body, hehe. Goodluck on the new path that you're about to enter. Congratulations dear!

Tommee, still remember we walked together to get our cars on the first day? We we're both so quiet while walking, not talking to each other, who would've thought that we will end up as friends. Thank you! Thank you for being our happy pill! For making each day in class a memorable experience. Thank you for being the organizer of everything! You really deserve to be our EC. I must admit, without you, the group wouldn't be that close. Thank you for your efforts of keeping in touch. Don't get tired of organizing a get together ok? Glad to have found someone who almost has the same personality and outlook as mine, of course drinking is an exception to that. I hope you and mommy Z will finally be ok. I'm praying for that.

Chester, my first and original group mate, my fellow Sous Chef (haha!). Mr. Asian guy is really a very dependable group mate, thank you for making sure that I always have my stock (oh the advantage of being tall). Thanks for being available always when I needed to ask something about baking ingredients. (Free plugging, Try his cakes and pastry creations -Taste Temptations at Shopwise-libis and soon to open, Mall of Asia Branch) I've tried it myself, although I'm not a sweets lover, I definitely love it, walang bola yan ;-) On the other note, I hope E will finally see your worth more than being a best friend. I pray that your persistence will someday pay off. And before I forget, Happy Birthday!!!:D

Jay, thanks for being a cool lolo! (Joke) Seriously, I never thought you'd be one of those who will always be present during bonding moments, in fact you're one of the starters. Hehe! On the other note, what you did to Pat's car was really funny! silly joke but funny! It was your idea right?

Patrick, see, I didn't forget you. Oh well, what would I say about you? Can't think of anything really... Kidding aside, thanks for being a nice group mate, for being a gentleman (naks!), I won't forget when you waited for me to finish the cleaning in the kitchen before leaving and even offered to carry my bag, it was nice of you to do that considering you were not as close to me as you are to Bianx ;-). I hope you could join our get together and breathe the manila air for a change. Promise I'll keep you updated on the gimmicks so you could join us, that is if you're interested.

I miss you all guys, it's been a short period that we've spent together but it's definitely something that I will cherish. See you around!!!

Qoutable Qoutes by: The Princess Part 4

We were having lunch and she saw daddy having some soda, I don't usually allow her to drink that for obvious reasons, but on some occasions I do. She kept on looking at her dad's glass and then with a sweet smile she asked me;

"mommy, can I drink some soda? just a little only, please???"

I told her, "ok, but you can have it after you're done with your food"

a little later, after a few more bites...

"mom, can I drink my soda now? look, my tummy is so big na (she meant to say, she's full already)"

my reply was, "oh, if you're tummy is so big na, I will not let you drink the soda"

the smart princess then said, "but mommy my tummy is so small pa, look" :D

More International Cuisines

I didn't get the chance to post these right after learning about it so I'm posting it all now. I actually forgot to take photos of the Indian and Malaysian Cuisines, I didn't like their food but forgetting to take pictures of it was not my intention. Oh, and I also forgot to take pictures of the Mediterranean Cuisine, I enjoyed that lesson so much and I love the food as well. So here goes the rest of the cuisines we learned to cook.

Qoutable Qoutes by: The Princess Part 3

The princess rushed to the phone to answer a call from the guard house. When I asked who was the one who called, she replied;

"The guard, he's asking for my money, eh I don't have any money eh"

The guard was actually asking for her mommy. :D

Show them you love them while you still can...

I was blog hopping last night when I read about a husband's blog who recently lost his wife, he said that he thought he was prepared for it since they expected that it would happen. But it only gets harder for him knowing that his life will never be the same without his wife's presence, sure the burden of having to find means to provide for her medications is gone but it seems that life is never complete without her.

Life after a death of someone we love is hard to accept no matter how hard we prepare ourselves when we see it coming, it's like a nightmare that will keep on haunting us and when it comes, you will never be ready for it. I've lost a lot of loved ones, my papa and I, we didn't have that kind of relationship that someone would envy, but we know deep in our hearts how much we love each other. His sudden death made me regret a lot of things, I kept asking myself then if I was able to show him how much I loved him. There were a lot of things I wished I should have done. He was the reason why I did not pursue my career in the US, he didn't want me to leave because he said it's hard to work there if I'll be alone. He asked me to just help them with the family business and I gave in to his request with the plan that I will just stay for a few years. Three years after, he died of cardiac arrest. Right then and there I knew that staying with them was the right decision, at least I was able to spend those few years with him. When my closest aunt-"bestfriend" passed away, It was hard to accept not because she was very young but because she was the closest to me among my relatives. Her family moved to the US and there she got pregnant with her second child, a few months after I got pregnant with the princess, we used to chat everyday talking about anything, we never ran out of topic to talk about. We enjoyed talking about our pregnancy. But after she gave birth, the online conversations has lessen, I understand how busy she was coz life there isn't the same here. One time I had the chance to chat with her again, she kept saying how much she misses me and that she loves me very much. I wasn't surprised then coz we're used to exchanging i love you's. One night we received a call from her husband that she had her third attack of aneurysm and that she was on a coma, I was hopeful that she's gonna make it again. But that was the last "i love you" I got from her, she passed away the next day and again I was left hoping, wishing that I should have made an extra effort to talk to her, to call her and let her feel how much I love her. I can't imagine how badly I will miss her, until now I can't help but cry every time I think of her. I can cry bucket of tears but it will never bring back the people I loved so dearly.

Sometimes we neglect to show the people we love how much they mean to us, thinking that there will always be next time but I hope I will always be reminded of the two people I love and lost too early. I hope I can always be the kind who will not hesitate to show how much a person means to me for when they're gone, I can never bring them back to make up for the lost times, and I will be left again feeling the regret.

Six Unimportant things/habits/quirks about my self:

1. I don't eat food with cooked fruit in it (e.g. apple or peach or mango pie, etc.), I like to eat my fruit fresh.

2. I enjoy singing alone in videoke (in my own house only).

3. I hate it when I can't remove the smell of garlic on my hand no matter how many times I washed it (I really love cooking though).

4. I don't eat crab (a lot of people find this weird).

6. I used to think I have big legs that's why I didn't want to go out wearing shorts before, but not anymore, my sisters and aunts convinced me that my legs are proportionate to my body.

What I've Learned So Far

On our 3rd day at CCA, I learned the right process in making soups, on our 4th day, we made 6 recipes. The end product looked like it was done in a simple manner but no, it had to undergo 20 procedures. It was exhausting, time pressured but really really fun! you really have to love cooking for you to enjoy it. The best part is, I was able to bring it home and let my family enjoy it too.

Movie Tag

Rules of this Tag:

1. Link back the person who tagged you and write what was the movie his/her family enjoyed watching recently.

2. Now your turn to tell about the movie your family had just watched.

3. Tell something about the movie and spoilers are accepted (hehehee).

4. Lastly, write anything that has something to do with movies: Trivia, your top choice or favorites and why, your family's story about your favorite motion pictures, the first film you watched with your husband, any traditional film the family 's keeping etc...etc...

5. Copy and paste the rules of this meme on your blog and pass the tag to as many friends, bloggers and movie lovers you want. Don't forget to tell them they're tagged and leave a comment here if you're done with the task.

Got this movie tag from Christianne. They recently watched Bambi. To limit Annika from watching too much tv they let her watch Dora or Blues Clues, she seems to love watching films with animals in it. If there's a film that you may call her favorite, it is Bambi.

The Last full-length movie we watched with the princess was Bee Movie, at first she was a bit scared coz she thought it's like Monsters Inc. (yeah, she got really scared at that film) but I assured her that it wasn't a scary film then she started focusing on it and later on I noticed she's becoming enthusiastic about it. In the middle of the film she started asking why's about the bees. Hubby and I found this film entertaining and the realization Barry had between the balance in nature is the one thing I liked in it.

The last few movies we watched were the following;

I AM LEGEND - I am a bit disappointed in this film maybe because I have high expectations the moment I saw the trailer. I thought it's almost the same as 28 Days Later (with a sequel of 28 Weeks Later), the infected turned into a monstrous creature who's survival lies on feeding humans. It's quite okay though in the case of suspenseful competence, one scary sequence was when Will Smith followed his dog into a warehouse which turned out to be the place where the infected stays while the sun is still up.

NATIONAL TREASURES - This movie is fun. I enjoyed the intellectual puzzle solving in it and the chase between Mitch Wilkinson and Ben Gates. The film did a fine job of making you feel like you were along for the ride, and on that level it really worked. I especially liked Riley, Ben's sidekick (played by Justin Bartha) who played the typical adventurers of a sidekick, but a little more substantial than that as well.

P.S. I LOVE YOU - I've read this book before and I was so excited to see the film. Of course I liked the book more than the film because they obviously couldn't be as detailed as the book. Just like when I was reading the book, I cried a lot in this film. Maybe because I was always putting myself in the shoes of Holly. Who wouldn't cry if your husband died at an early age and none of your dream as a married couple has happened yet.

VANTAGE POINT - The film stops and rewinds back to 20 minutes before the event for each character. It has a good puzzle and it delivers on all accounts. I love the twists and turns and I really enjoyed the suspense and intense action. Half way through this movie, if you think you got it all figured out, you will later find out that you haven't got a clue.

Finally, I'm tagging other people to do this meme... Kay, Jing, May & Lot.

Sharp Memory

A month ago hubby and the princess went to Inengs at Trinoma to buy some barbecue. Last night hubby had some cravings to it again and so he told the princess that they'll go out to buy some barbecue. She asked for my permission if she can come with daddy. Then I asked her, " Where are you going to buy barbecue?", to my surprise she replied "hmmm, to trinoma". It's been a month and she still remembers, to think that she's been there just once.

THIS IS WHAT LOVE IS ALL ABOUT!

A friend sent me this email, whether this is a true story or not it touched my heart and I wanted to share it here. It reminds me of the movie "The Notebook". Haaay, umiral na naman ang pagiging Hopeless Romantic ko :D

It was a busy morning, approximately 8:30 am., when an elderly gentleman in his 80's, arrived to have stitches removed from his thumb. He stated that he was in a hurry as he had an appointment at 9:00 am.

I took his vital signs and had him take a seat, knowing it would be over an hour before someone would able to see him. I saw him looking at his watch and decided, since I was not busy with another patient, I would evaluate his wound. On exam, it was well healed, so I talked to one of the doctors, got the needed supplies to remove his sutures and redress his wound.

While taking care of his wound, we began to engage in conversation. I asked him if he had another doctor's appointment this morning, as he was in such a hurry. The gentleman told me no, that he needed to go to the nursing home to eat breakfast with his wife.

I then inquired as to her health. He told me that she had been there for a while and that she was a victim of Alzheimer's disease. As we talked, I asked if she would be upset if he was a bit late.

He replied that she no longer knew who he was, that she had not recognized him in five years now.

I was surprised, and asked him, "And you still go every morning, even though she doesn't know who you are?"

He smiled as he patted my hand and said, "She doesn't know me, but I still know who she is."

I had to hold back tears as he left, I had goose bumps on my arm, and thought, " That is the kind of love I want in my life."

True love is neither physical, nor romantic. True love is an acceptance of all that is, has been, will be and will not be.

The happiest people don't necessarily have the best of everything; they just make the best of everything they have.

Saying Sorry...

One thing that I love about the princess is her pride-less way of saying sorry. Every time she sees that I am disappointed with her actions, she never fails to say sorry and she will not stop until she knows that she's forgiven.

To you my dear princess,

I hope you'll stay that way. You will surely grow up a lovable person if you know how to accept your mistakes. I hope you know that whatever you do, nothing will ever make me love you less...

"A New Pair of Eyes"

Hubby has been wearing an eyeglass since he was in High School, he's been wanting to get rid of it but he can't because he's allergic to contact lenses and having an eye grade of 450-475, you can imagine how hard it is for him. After a year of contemplating, he finally decided to push through with PRK(Photorefractive Keratectomy), a procedure in which the surface of the cornea is reshaped using an Excimer laser. He had to think about it for a long time because we were scared of the possible irreversible complications. I was watching all throughout the procedure, it took only 30-45 minutes for the whole process and thank God everything went well. His vision now is 20-50 and his eyes aren't still totally healed, the doctor said it could still improve later on if he will follow all his orders. Congrats dad for your new pair of eyes!:D

Qoutable Qoutes by: The Princess Part 1

"Mommy, I'm going to be a doctor so I can remove your cough"

Bringing My Passion To The Next Level

My growing passion for cooking made me decide to go into the next level, I'll be taking up formal classes in culinary. I'll start with the short course while waiting for the one to two year program to begin. I'm so glad when hubby gave me that opportunity to fulfill one of my greatest dream. I have some reservations though, it will affect my "mommy side". The princess will start on her first formal class and I'd like to be the one to prepare her before going to school. I wanted to be with her during the first week that I'll be allowed to stay in the school. I wanted to be the first person she'd see after class and I'd like to be there to ask how her class turned out. There's going to be a problem about this because both classes (mine and the princess') will start on the same date, my time is from 7:00am to 4:00pm while hers will be from 8:00 to 11:00am. I have another option, that is to take the August class for me to be there for her at least for two months, by that time I start with my class, she's adjusted to her new environment. Hubby thought I am wasting time by delaying my enrollment, I didn't want to disappoint him because he's been very supportive but I told him I can't concentrate in class if he'll push me to start on June coz I'll feel so guilty about not being there for my daughter on an important event in her life. I don't know if delaying it would be a right decision but I know I'll be very happy to witness another "first" in my princess' life.

Loves Pictures

We were having lunch in one of the restaurants at Greenhills one day, she was seated in front of me and I noticed she kept on smiling and posing at a person behind me. Curious at that person behind me, I looked back, no one was smiling at her. I asked her, "why are you smiling sweety? who are you smiling at?", "he's taking my picture mom". I looked behind me again and saw no one holding a camera, I only saw a boy seriously playing with his PSP. "Sweety, he's not taking your picture, he's playing with his PSP", "no mommy, that's a camera!". Oh well, she's definitely loving her role of being daddy's model.

Movie Lover

Hubby and I really love watching movies. Back when we weren't married yet, almost every weekend we can be seen at the cinemas of Powerplant Mall in Rockwell. Being married didn't stop us from doing what we enjoy doing together, not even my delicate pregnancy. I remember there was a time when I was eight months pregnant, we tried the LFS at G4 because we can't make it early, it was midnight already and we're still inside a movie house and the princess kept kicking inside my tummy, I remember saying to hubby, "maybe she can't sleep because she can't tolerate the sound", hehe".

These days hubby is into collection of Blu Ray Disc, so far, my favorite is this;
Photobucket

The Harry Potter Limited Edition Gift Set.
We bought this before Christmas but due to the busy season, we just started watching it again for the past two nights after. Love it!!!

Cotton Candy

The day that she's been waiting for has arrived, we went to Araneta Coliseum to watch Disney on Ice. We came early so we know we need to keep her busy to avoid her from walking around. Food vendors were roaming around offering different kinds of foods, the princess got attracted to the colorful packaging of their cotton candy and she insisted to buy it. I was hesitant because she had never tasted a cotton candy before and knowing my princess to be not so adventurous when it comes to food, I was afraid she wouldn't like it. She's also a bit of an OC so anything that will make her hands messy, she wouldn't like it unless if it's really yummy. So there, Daddy bought it and when she took a handful of it, she was hesitant to eat it, confused if that was really something she can put in her mouth. I had to encourage her to try it and when she did, haha!!! the look on her face. She hand it back to me and said, "mommy, i don't like it, please wipe my hands it's so dirty". :D

Good thing she enjoyed the show, at least she can forget her first experience of trying a cotton candy!

The Princess Talks Part II

Sometimes I find it hard to explain how on earth she could speak some kind of words and it just makes me smile and sigh... she's really growing up really fast. *sniff*sniff*

She's definitely a charmer.

Princess: (giving me the sweetest smile) mommy, i really really love you!!! (awwww...)

When she sees me dressing up an outdoor clothes she can sense that i'm going out.

Princess: Mommy are you going out?
Mommy: yes sweety, i just need to buy something.
Princess: How about me? can i come too?
Mommy: Sorry sweety, it'll just be mommy for now ok?
Princess: Oh well, okay mommy.

One time she and dad are making some drawings, she asked dad to draw an umbrella.

Princess: Is that an umbrella? I don't think so, I think that's a square.
(hehe, pahiya si dad)

We passed by a new establishment near our place.

Mommy: Look dad, may Inengs na dito.
Daddy: Great!
Princess: Oh my God! Inengs!!!
(Hahaha!!!!)

I was putting her to sleep one night.

Princes: Mommy, can you give me a massage so that I will feel better and so that I can sleep better?

She also has her usual sentence that she always say whenever she's bored.
Princess: mommy, what i going to do? (she mean, what am i going to do?)

Then later when she thought of something...
Princess: Oh, I have an idea, maybe I can play outside mom.

I don't know what other words she will learn at a very young age that's why we are so careful about our words and of course what she sees on TV.

I almost forgot I have this blog!

When I started this blog, I told myself I'll try to post almost everyday but things got out of hand when I became so occupied with lots of things and the not-so-friendly internet connection adds up to it. Well, I hope this time i'll be faithful to my words...
